ear Santa, I’ve been good all year. Most of the time. Once in a while. Never mind, I’ll buy my own stuff.”
I know I’m past the age of believing the existence of a plump, white-bearded, red-suited, and jolly old man bringing gifts to good children at Christmas time (no offense to those who still do). But just in case the generous patron of Christmas does exist and he’s found a way to safely deliver presents amid the reality of Covid-19 and the travel restrictions that goes with it, here’s my grown-up Christmas list for 2020…
Covid-19 vaccines for everyone, both naughty and nice.
A substantial stimulus package — unemployment benefits, Paycheck Protection Program, eviction moratorium, and expanded nutrition benefits to the most affected families.
More diversity, Dreamers Act, Refugee Program
More equality, women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, racial justice, BLM, religious tolerance
Trade Agreements — no more trade war with China
Faster, interruption-free wi-fi connection
Tax-cuts/relief for the small business
Loan forgiveness — including student loans
Rent control / more affordable housing
Less traffic in the city
More cybersecurity — no more Russian hackers
Hope — lots and lots of it.
Now, Santa may just be a myth and we’ve stopped believing in him a long time ago. The season however reminds us that we all have the opportunity to be Santa — to be generous, share your gifts and talents and spread good cheer to as many people as possible. At the same time be child-like, believe in something that we don’t see. For me, it’s believing that things will get better and that 2021 will have something good for everyone.
At Biz Made EZ, we believe that in the midst of this crisis, there are business opportunities to be found. For help finding them and pivoting your business to take advantage of those opportunities, email us or visit our website.
