I was catching up with a great friend and entrepreneur over brunch recently. During our time together, she opened up about her Ozempic experience. She had tried it to get to her "perfect weight," but the journey was a nightmare. And honestly, I was shocked at her experience. But more importantly, the reason why as she’s always been small and petite, with just a few extra post-COVID pounds. In my eyes, she didn’t need it at all.
But her story reminded me just how much pressure there is, especially for entrepreneurs, to look the part, feel energized, and keep up with the nonstop demands of building something from scratch. When you’re starting, running, and growing a business, your body is part of your brand. Your energy, your presence, your confidence-- all show up in the room before your pitch does.
So, no shame in wanting to feel your best. The key is finding ways to stay fit and focused without losing your joy—or your lunch.
Tricks to Stay Relevant and Lean (Without Hating Life)
1. Micro Workouts > No Workouts
No time? No problem. Little things count like taking 10 minutes of HIIT, (a dance break) between Zoom calls, or simply walking to every meeting. Movement doesn’t have to be epic to be effective.
2. Wearables That Keep It Real
Apple Watch, WHOOP, Fitbit—whatever works. These gadgets help track steps, sleep, and stress. They don’t nag; they just nudge you in the right direction.
3. Intermittent Fasting with Flex
IF isn’t about starving—it’s about simplifying. Start with a 12:12 window (eat for 12 hours, fast for 12) and tweak from there. It helps regulate hunger cues and gives your brain a break from decision fatigue.
4. Stay Curious, Stay Young
Relevance isn’t just about how you look, it’s how you think and feel. Keep your mind agile with new hobbies, languages, games, whatever keeps the spark alive. A fit brain is part of the full package.
5. Spend Time with Friends (Even Business Friends)
Your calendar may be packed, but don’t skip time with your crew. Strong social connections reduce stress, lift your mood, and even lower your risk of certain diseases. Business friends can double as mentors, motivators, collaborators—and referral goldmines. It's good for your health and your hustle.
What to Avoid (So You Don’t Crash & Burn)
1. Extreme Diets That Tank Your Energy
That zero-carb cleanse or juice-only week might help you drop weight fast—but it also might leave you foggy during that big pitch. Choose fuel over fads.
2. Skipping Sleep for Hustle Culture
Sleep is not a luxury. It’s your brain’s recharge time. Burnout doesn’t make you a better CEO—it just makes you cranky and ineffective.
3. Comparing Yourself to “Highlight Reels”
Instagram isn’t real life. Just because someone looks like they’ve figured it all out doesn’t mean they haven’t cried over a spreadsheet last night. Focus on your lane.
4. Saying Yes to Everything
Overcommitting = overwhelm. Protect your time like it’s your business partner (because it kinda is). Boundaries are the real glow-up.
Tools to Stay Fit While Running the Show
1. The Walking Meeting Hack
Got a call with your web designer? Put on sneakers and take it outside. Free cardio, mental clarity, and you won’t miss a beat.
2. Schedule It Like a Meeting
If your calendar runs your life, let it help your health too. Block time for workouts, lunch, and even a stretch. Make wellness non-negotiable.
3. Power Lunch = Protein + Plants
No sugar crashes, please. Build meals with clean protein, greens, and healthy fats. Think “fuel,” not “fast food.”
4. Upgrade Your Workspace
Standing desk? Under-desk treadmill? Hydration app? Little tweaks = big returns. A better setup helps your body thrive while your business thrives.
5. Must-Have Tools for the Busy Boss
Cronometer or MyFitnessPal – For food tracking made easy
Streaks – To build daily habits without overwhelm
Zero – If you’re exploring IF, this one’s a winner
Headspace or Calm – A clear mind leads with power
Standing desk or under-desk treadmill – Hustle while staying in motion
Being a Fit isn’t about abs—it’s about output.
You’re running a business, managing stress, and setting the tone. Fitness gives you the stamina, clarity, and mental resilience to lead with vision and velocity.
· Strong body → strong boundaries
· Clear mind → better decisions
· Daily movement → daily momentum
· The best investment? You.
The truth is, you don’t need a celebrity drug or workout to feel good in your skin. You just need habits that make sense for you, a plan that’s sustainable, and a mindset that says, “I’m building an empire—and I’m going to feel amazing doing it.”
